LASTING ALMOST 3 DAYS.
08 NOV 45 ARRIVED YOKOHAMA-TOKYO, JAPAN.
CAMP WAS TO BE A JAPANESE OFFICER’S TRAINING
SCHOOL; HOWVER, IT WAS UNDERGOING A 3-DAY PERIOD
OF FUMIGATION. WE SLEPT ON THE SNOW COVERED
GROUND.
THIS BIVUOAC AREA WAS CLOSE TO THE TACHIKAWA AIR
BASE.
DEC 45 POINT MEN WERE CONTINUALLY GOING HOME DURING THIS
PERIOD. THE MAJORITY OF RETURNEES WENT TO
SEATTLE, WA THEN TO FORT LEWIS OUTSIDE TACOMA, WA
AND THEN HOME BY TROOP TRAIN TO THEIR RESPECTIVE
DISCHARGE CAMPS. THE WAR WAS OVER AND WE HAD
PERFORMED OUR PART IN BRINGING IT TO A SUCCESS-
FUL CONCLUSION.

THE 1305TH UNDERWENT BASIC TRAINING AT CAMP CLAIBORNE,
ALEXANDRIA, LA; ENGINEERING TRAINING AT CAMP SUTTON, NC;
REORGANIZED AS THE 1395TH BATTALION AT GUADALCANAL. FROM
THERE IT DEPARTED TO ESPIRITU SANTO AND OTHER PACIFIC
ISLANDS IN A VERY ACTIVE AND HAZARDOUS ENGINEERING ROLE.
