Employer paperwork involvement
One of the most frequently asked questions is about what the employer is
expected to do regarding paperwork. It is pretty simple. There are two pieces
of paperwork at the beginning of the internship and one at the very end.
Other than that, the internship is a regular job from the employer's
perspective.
- Experiences and objectives: This is a list of some of the tasks that the
student is expected to handle or a list of skills the student is expected
to learn on the job. The purpose of the intership is to reinforce skills
the student has learned in class and to expand their skills in their
chosen field. This document should be completed before the student starts
working.
- Guidelines of understanding: This is a set of rules that all three parties
(employer, employee, and school/coordinator) agree to. If the employer
has a question regarding something in this document, the employer should
contact the college coordinator. This document should be completed before
the student starts working.
- Employer's final evaluation: This document should be completed at the end
of the internship. It is a one page document in which the employer fills
in some numbers to rate the intern's performance.
