TO : Commanding Officer, 1177th Engineer Group, APO 709.

      1. This is to express my appreciation of the manner in
which your road and bridge crews functioned during the recent
heavy rains.

      2. I am satisfied that major flood damage was averted
and traffic was kept moving through the alertness and untiring
efforts of yourself and your personnel engaged in this work.
During the flood conditions the Island roads have been kept in
better condition than I had believed was possible.

my sincere appreciation for a task performed in a superior
manner.
