        1.    AWARDS OF THE LEGION OF MERIT:

              By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of
Congress approved 20 July 1942 (Sec III, Bull 40, ??, 1942), Executive Order,
No. 92?0, 29 October 1942 (sec I, Bull 54, ??, 1942), and authority contained in
War Department r???ogr?? dated 6 February 1943, a Legion of Merit is awarded by
the Commanding General, United States Army Forces in the South Pacific Area, to
the following-named officers:

              WENDELL P. TROWER, (0-12061), Colonel, Corps of Engineer, United
States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of out-
standing service in the South Pacific Area from 1 June 1943 to 1 July 1944.
