Assignment details

Your task for this assignment is to find information on a career in IT and at least two potential available jobs in the IT field. They can be different positions or the same position - that's your choice. The online notes for class include suggestions for where you might search online for career information and IT job postings. Submit a short report in PDF format that includes the following:

  1. IT career search report
    1. The exact URL(s) of the page(s) you are getting the specific job information from.
    2. The name of the IT career you looked into.
    3. Typical duties performed by someone working in this career.
    4. The level of education expected for this career.
    5. The job outlook for this career.
    6. The expected annual pay for this career.
  2. Job opening report (number 1)
    1. The URL of the site that you used to search for the job posting (i.e. www.monster.com)
    2. The specific URL of the job posting (i.e. jobview.monster.com/AUTO-PAINTER-DETAILER-Job-NAPERVILLE-IL-137055611.aspx)
    3. Position (i.e. auto painter and detailer)
    4. Company name (i.e. B & L Auto Body
    5. Location of the job (i.e. Naperville)

    8. A list of the qualifications and/or skills desired (abbreviate to the most important items if the list is long)

Rubric

  • (6 points) The IT career search report should be concise and to-the-point. It is worth up to six points depending on how well it meets the requirements.
  • (7 points) Job opening report number 1 is worth up to seven points based on how well it meets the requirements.
  • (7 points) Job opening report number 2 is worth up to seven points based on how well it meets the requirements.
  • All of the reports should be combined into a single document.
  • (2 points) You must have your name, the course number, the date, and the assignment name and/or number at the top of the document. Points will be deducted for missing information.
  • (2 points) The report must be submitted as a PDF file.
  • (6 points) Errors, typos, sloppiness, and poor formatting may result in many points being deducted (up to the entire value of the assignment). Nicely formatted documents without errors are worth up to six additional points.
